Midwives for Haiti
Midwives for Haiti has been working in Haiti since 2006. Its mission is to reduce maternal and infant mortality by upskilling Haitian nurses into midwifery, as well as by providing direct maternal health services at Saint Therese Hospital in Hinche and in 8 community clinics in rural outlying areas. Midwives for Haiti has trained 204 midwives, who represent over 30% of the skilled birth attendants working In Haiti today at 56 health centers throughout the country. In addition the organization provides training to Haiti’s traditional birth attendants.
